There is not a lot of change in Dustin’s condition. He remains in ICU, in a non-medically induced coma, on a ventilator and in serious condition. There are some small, though positive signs of brain activity. With a brain trauma of this nature and magnitude, things get worse quickly and they haven’t to this point - which is good. On the flip side, things do not get better quickly. Improvement is normally slow and in small increments.

things you can do:
1) give thanks!
2) pray fervently!
3) serve joyfully!

1) give thanks:

  • many, many expressions of concern, support, etc.
  • Leigh Anne’s friends in from TX and AZ
  • an RUF family in from NC to stay with the Salter children
  • skillful and knowledgeable doctors, nurses and caregivers
  • the body of Christ rising to the occasion

2) pray fervently:

  • the swelling of Dustin’s brain to go down
  • increased brain activity
  • Leigh Anne (comfort, encouragement, rest! [physically and spiritually], endurance)
  • Jacob, Nathan and Meredith
  • RUF @ Furman (there are about 100 sheep currently without a shepherd)

3) serve joyfully:

  • To help in the following ways, contact the person listed:
  • Meals: Lori Luttrell (610.2737 )
  • Sitting with Leigh Anne: Judy Kay Kyker (610.9082, jvkyker at hotmail.com )
  • Childcare and General Help: Mary Ellen Kistler (610.9400, redeemeradmin at gmail.com)

Although it has been a 5 years since I last chatted theology with Dustin at TCU, I still recall his great wisdom and love for the Lord. Lifting Dustin and the family up in prayers here in Chicago and passing on the need to fellow Christians in the area.

    Hi Leigh Ann,
Although we have not spoken since we left FW Pres, I shall never forget the priviledge I had of having Jacob and Nathan in Sunday school. John and I are praying daily for Dustin’s healing and for the love of our Father to enfold you,Jacob, Nathan and Meredith in His arms.
    In Him,
    Melanie

    Leigh Ann,
I want to let you know that the believers at Christ the Redeemer Church (Fort Worth) are praying for Dustin and your family. May our God be glorified in all circumstance. Please give Jacob and Nathan a hug for us. We still remember the time we spent together at the Texas Boy’s Choir Bldg leading Sunday School many moons ago — Alex and Lisa Rice (TCU and Fort Worth PCA)

  8. Leigh Anne Salter Says:

Words cannot express my gratitude for the prayers of the saints around the world. My heart is full of hope and love. We pray and wait –not always as patiently as I would like to, but His mercy is new every morning. Leigh Anne
