While there is no change in Dustin’s cognitive condition, he is running a bit of a fever (99-101 degrees). He is being treated with antibiotics and Tylenol to try and control the fever while doctors seek to determine what is causing it — they have taken some cultures and are awaiting the results.

Leigh Anne took the kids to see Dustin today — the first time they’ve seen him since the accident (17 days ago). Do continue in prayer for them as they process the situation [Jacob (9), Nathan (7) and Meredith (2)].

All house guests (friends and family) have now left the Salter home. There are a few more folks coming in from out of town in the coming days, but as we settle in for what seems like a long haul, Leigh Anne will need prayer especially for endurance, rest and … honestly, only the Lord knows what else. Many ‘locals’ have been waiting in the wings and your time is rapidly approaching when your ongoing help will be required. Thank you for your patient and serving hearts.

Pressing on …

    Leigh Anne,

I know your family from Covenant–though as I mentioned in an earlier e-mail, I’m not sure we have ever spoken. I want to somehow let you know that we are praying for Dustin, you and your family. I am still so encouraged that while Dustin’s accident is certainly one that no one would want to endure, he is touching so many lives and reminding us to daily live for our Savior. What a testimony from all the letters that Dustin is living his life fully before the Lord. Many of us deeply yearn to impact others lives for Christ the way that Dustin has and STILL IS! Leigh Anne, I pray that God will give you the strength and peace to let Him continue to use Dustin’s life for His glory. We are all in this “waiting room” (the world) together awaiting for the Great Physician to come and heal us all. We feel your sorrow and want you know that we will not cease praying!

    In Christ’s Love to you!
    Renee Earl

I learned of Dustin’s condition thru Mark and Judy Klein, former neighbors of mine in Upper Darby, Pa. (I still live here.)We attended Crossroads (PCA)church, a few blocks away, and I still do. On Monday nite, I brought up Dustin at our weekly Women’s Prayer Time and of course we’ll keep right at it.
It had never occured to me to look on Redeemer’s Website. I just happened to do so this morning after coming home from church. I’m so very grateful that updates on him have been posted, as I’d been thinking and praying for him just this morning.
I’ll certainly make this a daily routine!

  7. Sue & Gary Brown Says:

    Dear Leigh Anne and family,
Our neice Whitney Tingle wrote us about Dustin. We just wanted you to know that we have alerted our prayer warriors at First Christian Church in Springfield, OH and we are earnestly praying for your husband. It is sometines hard to know what God has in mind for us, but we must live with His decisions and pray that He is using us to further His Kingdom. We pray also for the doctors who are attending to him and the nurses who see to his every need. We will continue to watch this web site and monitor his condition daily. In His love and ours, Sue & Gary Brown

You do not know me, but you all have been in my prayers since I recieved the prayer request. I want to encourage you with a testimony of my cousin who was in a car accident two years ago and suffered a severe brain injury. He was in a coma for several weeks with his brain activity levels @or below a 5 and God has totally healed and restored him to full health. My family has also experienced the beautiful support of the body of Christ as we just very recently lost a 10 year old neice in a car accident and spent the next week at the hospital here in Greenville with two of the other girls injured in the same accident. God is so good and there is much power, peace & strength found in him. with much love in Christ Jesus, Jana Seppala

  9. Jamie Corona Says:

    Leighanne,

I am a stranger to you but know that we are all out here in the world praying for your husband.

God can do great things through tragedy.

    Stay strong.
    Love,
    Jamie Corona

Leigh Anne! I am continuing to keep you & your WHOLE family in my prayers. I think of you often. I am out on the road & not in the area, but as soon as I return, I plan to get over to see you. I would also love to help out in any way I can when I return. I will be in touch. You are loved so much by the Greystone community. We are praying for Dustin’s progress, your strength & the children as they process all that is going on.

    Sincerely, Kelly Carew

  11. Donna Floyd Says:

Praying for Dustin, you and your family- I lead a bible study with some TCU girls whose lives were touched by Dustin and they shared his ministry with me on the day of his accident. Praying for you to see God’s glory in answered prayers ,for Dustin to be healed ,lives to be changed for Christ and God to be glorified in it all.

  12. Talbot Carter Says:

    Leigh Anne,

Jonathan Carter is my son and a Member at Redeemer. When he told me about Dustin’s accident, I began to pray for you and your young family. I attend two Bible Studies and have Christian friends at work across the Southeast. These folks are also praying for you all. May the Lord give you His peace which is beyond our understanding, and heal Dustin and your family as only He can do.

You probably have this resource in your church, but if not I have been in the insurance business in Greenville for 26 years and will be glad to help you (free of any charge) with insurance related issues that you may be facing.

    God bless,

    Talbot Carter
