A Note from Leigh Anne; 26 February 2007

Greetings from Texas.

I am amazed that even though time is marching on, we have not been forgotten. I know this because I get daily reminders from the website and letters of encouragement in the mail. I wish that I could respond to the many churches and individuals personally.  Thank you all for your outpouring of love in the form of money sent, care packages, scripture, hymns, e-mails, CDs, and on and on.  A mere “thank you” seems inadequate to express my gratitude.

The boys are happy among close friends again. Meredith continues to be flexible and cheerful when she gets a daily nap. I am seeking God’s face because there is no other face to seek. I have daily ups and downs all the while knowing that God has put me in this storm for purposes I may never know.

Hymns have been the theme lately. One of my favorites is Jesus, lover of my soul. This is all I could sing those first days in the ICU. And it is the one I sing most often when I need comfort.

There has been no real change in Dustin’s condition. The staff at the Plaza has been wonderful and helpful in caring for Dustin. Continue to pray for the daily management of bedsores, contractures, and therapy.

Many Blessings,
Leigh Anne Salter

I promise you…..how could we forget………never!! God puts you on my heart continually. I can say, I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such a desire to persevere in prayer and thats saying a lot….since my husband is a pastor and we’ve been in the arena of much needed prayer for so many needs for over 30 years. Hi, Leigh Anne!
It’s so good to hear from you personally (thru the website). I pray that one day we’ll be able to personally correspond. But you’re over your head with just daily living.
What I do want to remind you, and everyone else who’s reading this is to watch “To Iraq and Back” tomorrow nite on ABC at 10/9 Central. This is the story of reporter Bob Woodruff, who suffered a tbi while covering the war. He came back enuf to produce the show himself. As I said in another post, if that isn’t a big fat encouragement, I don’t know what is.
We don’t know how far back Dustin will come. That’s in God’s hands. But this program certainly shows the possiblities. Is it possible to watch it at the Plaza with Dustin? If so, try and do so. At the very least, I encourage you to record it for later viewing.
I’ll be watching it myself with interest with my husband and teenage son, with you and your sons watching it with us. Have already given a heads up to our adult son, his fiancee, and her parents. Hope you like microwave popcorn. I promise right now to pop up an extra package or two in your honor!
    Love to all of you,
    Fran Froelich
P.S. I just saw a teaser for tomorrow’s Ophrah. She’s interviewing the Woodruffs on her show. Don’t know time or station in Ft. Worth, but that, too is must-see tv.

    Dear Leigh Anne,
I first heard about your husband’s accident through the PCA Newsletter back in November. Since then I’ve been keeping up with your postings and praying for your family. Hi Leigh Anne & family,

Just wanted you all to know that you all are still constant in our thoughts and prayers. It is good to know the children are settling into a routine. We are still requesting special prayer for you all at church. I pray that the Good Lord continues to give you the strength that you need to face the days ahead….I know he will be there with you every step of the way.

Hebrews 4:14-16 gives you assurance that you have direct access to the throne of grace through Jesus Christ:

“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
