Thursday morning (9am CST)

Overnight, Dustin became more stable. That doesn’t mean he’s out of the woods but that his heart rate is stronger (in the 60s). The EEG didn’t tell much. They’re waiting on results from an MRI. But seizures have been ruled out. The main issue is that the doctors are continuing to try to isolate the source of the sepsis.

Dustin, Leigh Anne,Jacob, Nathan, and Meredith,
I have been following your updates and praying for all of you since the accident. Dustin’s grandmother Essie Mae is my great aunt.I use to go visit her and Uncle Edward when I was a little girl. Although I never met Dustin, family of any relation is important. I am soo sorry for the storm in your life. I know one day you will understand it more. I believe in miracles and know God works in his own time. I will continue to pray for each of you.May you continue to look into God’s face for your comfort. I am now 48 with a family of my own. I know how hard it is to understand the unexplainable but having the Lord is what sets us apart from the world.
Keep the faith and take care of yourselves.
    Love,

    Dear Leigh Anne,

I was out of town and just got a chance to check the site — and my heart is broken. I am so sorry that Dustin is going through this setback. We know that just when you think things are getting better, Satan has a way of tearing us down.

I am praying for you and Dustin and your precious children.

I am thanking God that seizures have been ruled out — but now we just need Him to use His healing hands to help solve the mystery of the sepsis.

Please know that I am here - praying for your family. I will send out the message to my family and friends that Dustin needs us more than ever.

Stay strong — God is using you as such a wonderful example of strength and faith.

    We all love you,

All of us are praying. I like to think that that includes my somewhat cynical almost-15 yo. Hasn’t been a minute of today that I haven’t been praying so urgently for healing.
I’ll say again: thank God for modern diagnostics! Have you any idea of what it was like before computerized technology was around to be able to find the exact location or cause of this or that disease process, or be able to judge whether or not a tumor was cancerous pre-op?
My husband and I will be 60 this year. Due to his numerous health problems (diabetes complications)over the last half-decade, we’ve had more experience than we ever wanted or expected to over this. It certainly makes doctors’ jobs easier and more effective to have such accurate diagnoses.
As one who’s old enuf to remember when medicine, esp. diagnostic tests, were much cruder than today, I’m including in my petitions to God gratitude that Dustin’s able to get such precise care compared to the not-so-good-old days.
Medicine is art in a scientific framework anyway. Let’s all pause and give praise for the increasing strength of the framework!

    Love, Fran

I have written a few times…my son was in a serious accident with TBI and is doing great today…one and one half years later. I hold out great HOPE for Dustin, that you will yet see God’s miraculous hand in his life. I know it is a fearful time to be watching monitors, listening to the dire reports from medical personnel, etc. but just hold onto the FACT that our precious heavenly Father is greater then all of this…and you need not FEAR…He is not surprised by anything Dustin or your family is going through…I am so blessed to know that you are standing strong…for when we are weak…He is able to show His STRENGTH! Amen…

    Leigh Anne,
It has been years since I have seen or spoken with you or any of the family. I recently heard about the series of tragic events you and your family have been through. I got an email forwarded from Lisa yesterday requesting prayer for Dustin, you and the kids. I cannot say the words that will take the hurt away but I can promise to lift you and your beautiful family up in prayer. Although I am in the medical field, it is revealed to me over and over that God is ultimately in control despite all the advances and forward strides made in medicine. Take care of yourself and keep the faith during these trying times.
