Update: 16 March 2007

Dustin’s health condition continues to remain serious.  However, hospice has provided him significant relief, and he is breathing on his own.

Family members are spending good time with Dustin.   Leigh Anne is thankful for and feels your prayers for Dustin, the Salter children, and their extended family.

Pray that during this time we may know more of Christ, manifest Christ, and then bring honor to Christ.  We declare with Paul, “For me to live is Christ . . .” (Philippians 1:21)

    Continuing to pray. I was thinking about how all the comments on this site by people all over have ministered to me in different ways and it led me to think about how Dustin is still ministering to others even now. I will continue to petition God for peace and wisdom for you in the midst of this. Tell my boys that Mrs. Amy loves them!

    Sorry to just now be posting. I have been keeping up with prayer requests through this website and through James and Vickie. I wake up even in the middle of the night praying for you and family!! We KNOW God is still in control, even when life seems out of control. This verse came to mind:
    Isaiah 26:3 ”
    “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee.”
    I’m praying God’s peace for you and family!

    We, too, have been “praying in the night watch” and every hour is a “sweet hour of prayer” for all of you Salters, both immediate and extended.  Nothing’s been mentioned on this board about parents or sibs, but I’ve prayed for them as well. Not only that you all hold onto each other, both now and later, but they, too, have people comforting and ministering to them.

    Love, Fran

    I live in Lakeland, FL and my son is a student at Furman University. We’ve been praying for you and Dustin since the accident. I was moved by Dustin’s sermon on God’s providence and want to share a poem from a devotional I read today on the same subject.
    “Shining out of Darkness”
    God moves in a mysterious way,
    His wonders to perform;
    He plans his footstep in the sea
    And rides upon the storm.

    Deep in unfathonable mines
    Of never failing skill,
    He treasures up his bright designs.
    And works his sovereign will.

    Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
    But trust him for his grace;
    Behind a frowning providence,
    He hides a smiling face.

    ~William Cowper (1731-1800)
