The Mercy Team

The Mercy Team exists as an arm of the deacons to assist the mercy needs of Redeemer. We hope to help minister the gospel in word and deed. This will be accomplished as we work to achieve renewal and restoration through visitations, encouragement, and hands-on involvement where needed.
Needs: We need folks who are willing to be called upon when there are needs in the church or community whether it is food for DCES, the mercy closet, construction projects, visitation, etc.
Local Mercy Ministries:
We continue to have opportunity to be involved with Duncan Chapel Elementary school. This summer we plan to once again to open the doors and parking lot of our building to the Communities in Schools children. This is a summer activity program for children of impoverished families funded by United Way. Because Greenville County schools are closed on Fridays, the children need an alternate meeting place for six weeks. Most Fridays they will meet at our building and then get on a bus for a weekly field trip. We have enjoyed having the past two summers and look forward to welcoming them again this summer. They are great to have in the building!
We are also hosting Strides Tutoring on Mondays-Thursdays. This is a grant supported tutoring service to children and families who would not otherwise be able to get the tutoring they need. The cost is based on income and some scholarships are available. Sunshine & other teachers tutor one child at a time in reading and math.
