Missions

feature-missions

At Redeemer we believe that a growing disciple of Jesus Christ is one who is resting in the good news of the Gospel, restoring relationships, and renewing our world. Redeemer’s Missions Team strives to a) ignite a passion for missions in the hearts of Redeemer families, b) grow a deeper awareness that missions is for everyone through prayer, education and experience and c) support those members of Redeemer answering God’s unique call to the mission field.

Our Missionaries

Laura Fels

Laura served on the core group that planted our church! We met together weekly for about a year before she moved back to NY. Laura grew up in Puerto Rico and was a product of the 60s counter-culture. She went to college in Virginia before moving to Washington, DC to pursue a successful career with Avis Rent A Car. Among her successes, Laura forged new territory as a woman in management, as she held positions never before held by women. Climbing the corporate ladder, promotions transferred her to different cities. In spite of her success, something was missing in Laura’s life. She found the missing piece of the puzzle when she met Jesus Christ, her Messiah. This changed her life so much that she made a career change and moved to New York to become a “missionary” to professional women, working as a spiritual resource to these women. She has lived here for over 20 years. Currently Laura works with the Christian Embassy, ministering to United Nations diplomats. She continues to be affiliated with Chosen People Ministries, helping them reach the Jewish executive community. In her spare time, Laura enjoys traveling, the outdoors, running, biking, swimming, and people. And Laura is studying for her Master’s Degree.

Prayer Needs

For the many appointments I am getting with women diplomats and ambassadors.

That I can minister deeply to the diplomat women I am getting to know. They work so hard, are so lonely, and become discouraged. Pray that these needs will be met through our ministry and the Gospel will become real in their hearts.

For favor in the eyes of the Ambassador women, that I can have access to them, and that I can begin a ministry exclusively for them.

JR Foster

Prayer needs

My travel schedule. Working across the southeast with campus ministers, interns, state RUF committees, and our national office requires weekly travel. Please pray for me as I do, both the effectiveness of my labor as well as for my family while I am away from home about two nights per week during the school year.

Wisdom. Providing pastoral care to the RUF staff in my area often requires wisdom. While 11 years as campus minister has given me some good perspective on life and ministry, please pray for wisdom as I provide this pastoral care for the men and women under my care.

Life in Greenville. Even though we have been in Greenville for a year, we know from experience that it takes a few years for a new city to feel like home. Please pray that Greenville would continue to feel more and more like home to all of us.

Elizabeth Pennock

Elizabeth grew up in Hendersonville, NC. While attending Furman, she was actively involved at Redeemer during its earliest years. After almost seven years serving on church-planting teams in Bosnia and Montenegro, Elizabeth now continues to work with Pioneers at their US base in Orlando, FL. Since 2009, Elizabeth has worked with the Pioneers Member Development team to champion growth and renewal among the 1000+ Pioneers (USA) missionary families who are living out the Gospel in forgotten corners of the world. She is currently focused on working with missionaries and their families who are based in Central and East Asia. Her work includes counseling, coaching and collaborating with missionaries on the field as they encounter times of transition, crisis or other challenges. Elizabeth recently completed an MA in Counseling at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando.
